Summary of Proposals

Purpose of the book:

Everyone knows that money overpowers government and the people’s interests. So, after decades of study on this subject, I wrote Proposals for Separating Money and Politics: A Comprehensive Non-Partisan Plan for a Tri-Federal Society Based on America’s Founding Fathers. This 90,000-word political/social science book details specific, practical ways to reduce government corruption. It is based on proposals from John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. The book also quotes Aristotle, Cicero, John Locke, Montesquieu, David Hume, Alexander Hamilton, Alexis de Tocqueville, John Stuart Mill, Abraham Lincoln, Henry David Thoreau, Jane Jacobs, and many others.

Crony capitalism versus true capitalism:

The modern world operates under crony capitalism, which is very much like socialism, and not true capitalism. That is, one group – politicians plus corporatists – holds all power, both political and economic. By contrast, I propose true capitalism by establishing a practical, iron-clad “wall of separation” between all government officials and the capitalist system. The people would elect officials for life into the bureaucracy and remove them if they prove to be corrupt or incompetent. This lifetime employment would make it feasible to ban these officials from all commercial activities and all investments in the capitalist system. This wall of separation would vastly diminish conflicts of interest. Elections would then select the president, congressmen, etc. from that group for limited terms in office.

Power to the people, not to politicians:

I propose that all citizens rotate, similarly to jury duty, onto permanent citizen bodies. These bodies would constantly investigate government corruption and oversee all government revenues and expenditures. Any official caught dealing dishonestly would face a loss of income and possibly prison.

America’s current constitutional structures are excellent, but I propose citizen-centered reforms for her federal hierarchy, election processes, and economic regulation.

Local community sovereignty:

I show how to restore state sovereignty. I also show how to create true sovereignty for local communities, while protecting local minorities from majority prejudices. Based on Thomas Jefferson’s views, I propose a tri-federal system of co-equal nation, states, and local communities.

Furthermore, I propose that all citizens be free to publicly express their religions, cultures, and ideologies in local communities of their own choosing and making. Each local community would decide all divisive issues for its citizens only. Such issues might include abortion, gun control, LGBTQ+ concerns, and minimum wage. All outside interference would be inhibited except in cases of constitutionally defined human rights violations.
